Alex brings a unique perspective to Mtell at the intersection of diagnostics, machine learning, and the IoT. He pursued his interest in adaptive learning systems as an undergraduate, performing DARPA-funded research in neural networks, vision, and biomedical diagnostics, authoring several peer-reviewed publications.
Alex Bates, Managing Director at Neocortex Ventures, Technology Chair at the Sandbox, author at Augmented Mind, discusses how investing in the A1 renaissance is it’s own reward.
Next Reality published Alex’s recent article! “Science fiction can be a lightning bolt that stirs the viewer’s mind to closer awareness of this. Black Mirror is a strong example — the thought-provoking dystopian series is fairly described as The Twilight Zone for the iPhone generation…”
If you want evidence that future technology is going to be radically transformative, just look at the 1990s. They were crazy. There was such a surge in neuroscience research that one American president dubbed it “the decade of the brain…”
Alex Bates, Mtell’s CTO and one of the six selected panelists, will share his experience ranging from applied analytics on large data warehouses, to co-founding Mtell and tackling big data problems in manufacturing. Bates has also been awarded several patents in the area of sensor networks and machine learning
Alex has a decade of experience in large-scale machine learning and the industrial IoT. He pursued his interest in adaptive learning systems as an undergraduate, performing research in neural networks, vision, and biomedical diagnostics, authoring several peer-reviewed publications.
“Engineers and data scientists at large enterprises want to perform exploratory analysis for advanced scenarios. Our approach enables them to concentrate on value creation, where the solution platform manages all the mechanics of data handling and live monitoring,” said Alex Bates, CTO of Mtell.
“MTell data scientist Alex Bates will provide insight into the project and the target solution which gathers big data from sensor signals to learn minuscule patterns of normal and errant behaviors that indicate degradation, failure, and root cause. Early degradation warnings allow intervention; fixing small problems before they become big ones.”
Mtell’s Alex Bates, CTO, has been selected to present a product demonstration, giving our company the opportunity to introduce the Mtell Suite to a local audience and share our insights on big data through machine learning.
Wrapped up co-keynote at the Deloitte Analytics & Data Science Conference, alongside Roz Picard (MIT Media Lab, Director of Affective Computing). Talk was about Analytics in the IoT, covered the Apollo program through Deepwater Horizon to present, evolution of sensor networks, big data, and collective intelligence / fleetwide learning.
